Finally. Spring.
I’ve had my bike out on the country roads for a couple of weeks now. I’m still working on strength, endurance and lung capacity and have mostly stuck to a route of about 6.5 miles in the country or riding in Marshall around the village on “our side” of the mill pond.
This morning after Lexi and I rode to school I went west out Hwy 19 and turned north on to TT and the change in direction did not seem to lessen the wind at my back. It was an easier ride after I turned back east on Canal Road.
The open fields are green now but they’re still outlined by dead grasses and brush. I’m excited about the return of the sand hill cranes and blue herons and anticipating their babies. I haven’t seen hardly any wildlife yet, but since I’m still getting back in shape after a long winter it’s a pretty focused ride.
